I miss Laura! I am so pleased that I have the Planetree video that captured her passion so well. I smile every time I think of her pet shrimp. I smile when I think about the story of how her family thrived on chaos. I smile just thinking about her!
August 21st @ 12:17 a.m. from a fellow high school classmate:
Laura and I had many classes together at Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. We often had assigned seats next to each other because of our last names we became good friends. As seniors, I was the Thursday editor and Laura was the Friday editor of our renown school paper, The Shortridge Daily Echo. We shared story ideas, improved our writing and editing skills, and met deadlines every day.
Recently I relocated with my family to the Seattle area after many years of living in the Midwest, and I decided to search the internet for long lost friends who might live in the Northwest. Only in this way did I discover Laura's obituary.
I was touched when I saw the Planetree video and read tributes to Laura. I will always remember her caring ways, her dedication to excellence, and her friendship. My condolences to Laura's mother, brother, sister, nieces, and nephews.
February 16th @ 7:01 a.m. from a colleague:
As the Planetree staff member who knew Laura the least amount of time, I still feel the profound emptiness of having lost a life-long friend. The first time I met Laura face-to-face, shortly after joining Planetree, she handed me a small, silver medallion. the medallion had the image of an angel engraved on it with the word "Strength" at the top. "Here" Laura said to me, with a serious expression but an unmistakable sparkle in her eye, "You'll be needing this".
In the brief time I worked with her, Laura embedded in me the need to be a better person. I will never forget her.

When I met Laura at a Planetree conference 5 years ago, she embraced me as if we were long, lost friends and told me what great work we were doing. Her warmth overwhelmed me. Personally, we rejoice in Laura's spirit and her dedication to uplifting patient care. Her brilliance radiated and will continue through those she touched. "It isn't more light we need, it's putting into practice what light we already have..." Peace Pilgram

Laura and I went show shopping at DSW when she was at Delnor Hospital for our Facilitator training. She was a hoot. She had never seen so many shoes in one place. I literally could not get her our the store and she home with a lot more shoes than she came with! It is a fun memory of Laura that I will cherish forever.
